Operation Boyfriend Series...

Damn it was hot night – and my stupidly tight skinny jeans were making my legs feel like they were on fire. I was very grateful for my ripped tee shirt I can tell you. The weathermen had promised us a really hot night too – it wasn’t gonna drop past twenty degrees – scorcher! Still, as hot as it was, I wasn’t gonna miss a chance to hold her hand – or to hold her in my arms and dance with her. I grabbed her hand as we walked down to the bus stop. “You look lovely,” I blurted out. I grinned embarrassedly at her. Jeez, I really had to rein it in – I was being a total doofus around her tonight.

Dallas...Out Now!
 “Dance with me.” I murmured.
Celeste looked up, confusion clouding her eyes, “What?” she asked looking a little bit bewildered at my request.
“Dance with me,” I repeated, holding my hands out to her.
She put her hands in mine and allowed me to pull her up, “There’s no music,” she said, wiping her eyes and looking at me as if I was mad and she was probably right – I wasn’t what you could really call normal, was I?
I nodded, “I don’t need music – I can imagine that,” I said softly, pulling her into me, “But I want to dance with you.”
She nodded, “I get it.” She said with a smile, “And I hear the music too…”

James...coming soon
“I’m gonna fight again this weekend.” I said to her one day when we were sitting outside under the trees – it was really hot and coming up to our final exams for the year. The end of year party was coming up fast and I wondered who she was going with – Savannah never really seemed to be dating anyone and I wondered if she’d like to go with me – just as mates of course. I hadn’t quite got around to plucking up the courage to ask her yet though.
She looked at me with wide eyes. “Are you mad?” she asked.
I grinned at her, “Probably.” I said with a laugh. “Think it runs in the family.”

Tyler...coming soon

Friends, The Extended Version...

“I’ve met this really nice guy.” I twirled my hair around my finger as I chatted on the phone with Carry-Ann.
She was silent for a moment and then she asked, “What – you’re going out with him?” was that tiny silence significant? And was she sounding more horrified than merely interested? Should I ask after James? Did I really want to jeopardise any hope of being his girlfriend by accepting a date with Steve?
“Not yet.” I said with a sigh, “But he’s really nice, you know – and well…” I trailed off. James has never asked.
She asked me all about him then and I got quite excited to be able to talk about a guy that was actually interested in me like that. As much as I loved James – more than anything in the whole world if I’m going to be honest – he’d never once shown me any sign of wanting me to be anything more than friends – and I wanted so much more than that.
I left it for a few days – surely Carry-Ann would tell the others that I’d met a guy. Surely if James wanted me, now would be the time for him to stake his claim. I stared at my phone willing it to ring. Please call me.
It never rang. I went to class and Steve smiled at me, sending a little thrill through me that he really liked me.
He came over to me after class, “I’ve got tickets to that band you said you liked.” He grinned hopefully.

I looked at the tickets. Oh, my God… one of my absolute favourites. I grinned up at him. “That is so cool,” I replied excitedly. And that was it – we were going out…

Some Kind of Paradise... coming soon

Thought you might like a little snippet of my forthcoming book... (one of them, anyway...)

“So I’ve got two tickets, a hotel booked and no one to go with.” I heard Brooklyn’s deep sexy voice coming from the hall and I surreptitiously turned the volume on the TV down a little so I could eavesdrop a little easier. I glanced across at Grandma; she was fast asleep, her mouth hanging open a little and snoring on every other breath. I was safe.
Usually she would wake up the second I reached for the remote control that she kept on the side of her chair. Honestly – she was ten times worse than any man… Although to be fair, Dad’s out most of the time so that might be the reason.
It was two weeks later. My brother had told Brooklyn about his future wife’s infidelity and he’d confronted her.
She’d broken down and told him that she was in love with the other guy; that she’d been planning to tell him all along but had never found the right moment and had finally decided to marry him anyway.
How dare she? I fumed silently as I was sat trying to watch the TV but I was actually keeping tabs on everything being said in the hallway between Brooklyn and Steve. How dare she take him from me when she never really wanted him?
“So take someone else.” Steve said. Ooh, take me, take me! I thought.
“Wanna come?” he replied dolefully.
“I can’t get the time off work – what about Jamie?” Duh! What about me? Come on bro, think of your little sis! Don’t hate me, but I was really trying to communicate telepathically. I grant you, it was unlikely…
“He doesn’t fly, you know that.” Brooklyn sighed.
“What about Shortcake?” Oh. My. God – it worked.
“Madison?” He used my name, my real name…
“Yeah – she’s never doing anything much.” Well, thanks a bunch Mister…
My heart started beating at double time in my chest. What on Earth had gotten into my brother? Offering me to go – and what was all this ‘she’s never doing anything’ crap? I was a straight A student thanks very much in my second year at Uni, too – I was going to be working next year – already had my placement and everything – I started next month…

“Well, I guess I could ask her.”
