Maybe Never... Coming Soon

Zac. Even his name made the hairs on the back of Shay’s neck stand on end. “Oh, my God,” he groaned as he watched him tackle a member of the other team to the ground and score his second goal. He knew he’d been right to encourage (some might call it coercion) him to rethink his decision to join the football team, “he’s so damned gorgeous...”
Guy, who was stood just to the side of him and heard him, chuckled, “That he is.” He agreed, “He’s adorable – for chrissakes, just ask him on a flaming date and get it over with.”
Shay pulled a face; having fancied him from the first moment he laid eyes on him, he’d gotten himself firmly in the friend zone whilst unexpectedly falling in love with him and now he was in that awkward position of deciding if he should bite the bullet and ask him to be more than friends – and risk rejection and their friendship souring – or to forever hold his peace and never know if it could have been the best thing ever… “I can’t.” he said, losing his nerve, “He’s a lone wolf.”
Guy about lost his mouthful of energy drink all over his friend, “Lone wolf?” he spluttered, staring at him as if he was crazy, his eyes watering slightly from his drink coming back out of his nose, “What the hell have you been reading? What a load of crap – he just hasn’t got the confidence you’ve got – give him a break!”
Shay bit his lip, “I can’t spoil things between us…”
Guy frowned, “And what if it doesn’t? Spoil things, I mean – what if he’s the one?”
Shay snorted, “You know I don’t believe in all that ‘the one’ crap.”
Guy shook his head, “Well, I do.” He said firmly, “Laney is definitely the one for me.”
Shay sighed. The truth was that he didn’t really know if he believed in ‘the one’ or not. He’d never met anyone before that he wanted to spend all of his time with but whenever he was around Zac he didn’t want their time together to be cut short – or to end at all. He loved going down to the park with him and watching him on his skateboard – the guy was truly gifted. He felt proud and honoured that Zac had let him into his world – even if it was for quite short periods of time – time he never wanted to end…
The thing was, he’d never cared before if someone he was mates with and subsequently hooked up with turned sour – but he was terrified of that happening with Zac. He just couldn’t shake the thought that it might ruin things between them if he told him how he felt about him – never mind getting as far as hooking up – and he didn’t want to make that mistake since they got on so well. The truth was, even though he found it hard to accept it, he was in love with his best mate and he had no idea how to tell him…
He smiled as he remembered the first time they’d met. He’d looked so damned lost and Shay had just had the most overwhelming desire to save him.
Since then he’d proudly watched him blossom and become one of the gang. It wasn’t just Zac’s wicked sense of humour that he found totally compelling either – it was pretty much everything about him that he adored and he could see that all of their group loved him too – particularly Guy, who spent a huge amount of time with them both. Guy was totally solid and totally straight, so he had no worries about the two of them hooking up. He and Laney had been a couple since year nine and Shay wouldn’t have been surprised to see them still together when they were pensioners. Their relationship was really something he aspired to. He wanted to aspire to it with Zac, but his crippling fear of ruining everything between them was in the way.
Guy didn’t share his fear and seemed to think that it would be perfectly fine to show his hand and to ask him out on a date but Shay couldn’t get away from the fact that Zac had never shown any sign whatsoever of feeling the same way about him and he didn’t want to make things awkward. “Come on, Shay – I hadn’t got you pegged for a coward.” Guy punched his shoulder playfully.
Shay shrugged, “Coward?” he asked feigning hurt, “Maybe I am. Maybe it’ll never happen…”

Riverside #7... Sam... Distracted... coming Autumn 2016

Toby and Trey turned out to be total mind-readers and seemed to instinctively know that I fancied Luca. What made it even worse was that they decided to make it their mission in life to match-make.
Trey was by far the worst of the two of them so of course it was his idea to play spin the bottle…
I couldn’t believe my eyes when the bottle spun and pointed towards Luca. I was totally sitting to his left. My insides started to squirm. There was no way he’d really go along with this, surely?
But he did. Trey and Toby knew him better than I did and totally knew he had the most competitive spirit known to mankind.
I glanced towards Trey who was grinning like an idiot at Luca, “Well, well, well,” he chortled, “Looks like you’re sucking face with the new boy.”
Shit. He was totally giving everything away. I looked at Luca who was eyeing me apprehensively. “You’re not gonna freak out on me or anything, are you?” he asked nervously.
It was a reasonable enough question. Things did sometimes make me freak out – raw fish for instance – I couldn’t go near the stuff without barfing. I was a bit of a liability in the kitchen around the seafood if I’m honest – I was a bit of a liability full stop. I couldn’t empty bins, couldn’t wash egg off pans and sometimes even just the thought of something icky had me retching. Luca though, bless him, just found me amusing for my little quirks – just another reason for me to love him… So the very idea of kissing Luca freaking me out was laughable. Not a problem my friend…
I smiled at his concerned face and shook my head. He was so damned beautiful… “Not my first time kissing a dude,” I said. Maybe I shouldn’t have said that…
His eyes widened with surprise, “Uh, right.” He said, going a little pink, “Well, it is mine.”
Of course it was. He was straight. I was actually more surprised that he was considering it at all. I could see Toby and Trey gleefully watching the whole scenario unfolding and I put on a show of looking as if this sort of thing was totally cool with me, “Well, anytime you wanna get started.”
Luca nodded, he looked to Toby for guidance on the rules of etiquette, “Just a peck or what?” he asked, “What are the rules here?”
Tom started to laugh, breaking the tension and making Luca laugh too, “I have to win,” he said, “– you know that.”
We all knew that. I grinned across at Toby and Trey.
Toby grinned back at me and Luca, “If you manage to last a minute – tongues and all – you can have Saturday night off. I promise to cover for you.”
My insides about turned to mush. Tongues and all? Oh. My. God...

I'm planning a wedding or two...

Toby and I had been set the task of organising Will and Tom’s stag party. The pair of pussies wanted to go out together – I know! What’s that all about? Anyway…
“So, what sort of thing do you think they’re gonna want?” I asked Tate one morning as we were getting breakfast, “A male stripper?”
Tate snorted and shook his head as Toby looked at us both, utterly horrified at the idea.
I had to laugh at his face, but I thought it was a valid question – a lot of guys wanted to go to a strip club for their stag nights. I just couldn’t see a bunch of girl strippers really floating their boat…
Tate’s answer was even funnier though, “No you dummy,” he said scornfully as he flicked the kettle on, “– those two would probably prefer a tea party and a Disney movie!”
I laughed, “Yeah, you’re probably right there.” I agreed. I got the cups out and was just reaching for the coffee – I didn’t notice Tomas who had just come into the kitchen.

“Oy, you cheeky git!” he said, “I heard that!” A pair of rolled up socks hit me on the back of my head.

Operation Boyfriend Series - Available NOW Exclusively to Amazon...

Damn it was a hot night – and my stupidly tight skinny jeans were making my legs feel like they were on fire. I was very grateful for my ripped tee shirt I can tell you. The weathermen had promised us a really hot night too – it wasn’t gonna drop past twenty degrees – scorcher! Still, as hot as it was, I wasn’t gonna miss a chance to hold her hand – or to hold her in my arms and dance with her. I grabbed her hand as we walked down to the bus stop. “You look lovely,” I blurted out. I grinned embarrassedly at her. Jeez, I really had to rein it in – I was being a total doofus around her tonight...

Dallas...Operation Boyfriend...Out Now!

I sat and stared into space. I wasn’t really thinking about anything, which was rather nice for a change – it really didn’t happen very often. I mostly had to force myself to not think about Sean and what I’d done to him – but since I’d met Celeste here last week I had to admit that my quiet moments had actually been spent thinking about her – what she was doing – why she came to see Ellis – what made her tick… Shit – I was in all kinds of trouble now – I was falling – for her…

James... All Kinds of Trouble... Out Now!

I picked up my mobile phone and pressed the favourites key.

The phone took a while to answer and I bit my lip as I checked the time on the dashboard. Damn, it was way after ten o’clock. James might be busy…
He eventually answered, “What have you done this time?” came his sleepy voice.
I pinched the bridge of my nose between my finger and thumb and closed my eyes, “Remember Savannah?”
He yawned, “The tutor?”
I rubbed my eyes, “Yeah, I think I upset her.” I told him about the date from asking her out to right up until she ran away from me.
“Well, it’s obvious, isn’t it?” he asked.
Not to me it wasn’t, “Is it?” I asked, “If it’s obvious to you then please tell me what I’ve done wrong because I’m clueless, dude.”

Tyler... The Trouble with Tyler... Out Now!

She stared at me. She really didn’t get it, did she?
How could she not realise how I felt about her? How could she believe that what we had together wasn’t the most perfect thing in the world? How could she think so little of me that she thought I considered her a plaything? A toy to be discarded once a shiny new one came along?

I didn’t know what was going on with Lydia but she was definitely lying to me. She felt the same way as I did – I could see it in her eyes. She was in as much pain as I was being separated from me as I was from her. So why was she pretending otherwise?

New Series coming soon....

“There it is!” I shouted excitedly to Naveen and Henry, “Come on!” I pressed my foot harder on the accelerator of my V-Dub van – my total pride and joy. It was my most prized possession – well, of value anyway – my actual prized possession was a tiny Lego Harry Potter figure that Willow had given me for my eighth birthday…
“I see it!” Naveen yelled back excitedly, pushing his unruly hair out of his face and leaning forward in his seat.
Henry sat forward too. He was riding in the middle seat – where he preferred it.
“Hoist the sail!” I grinned putting up my hand for a high five.
Naveen grinned and slapped my hand, “This is so freakin’ cool,” he said, “I can’t wait for the meet.”
The ‘meet’ as we called it was a monthly competition between us and a few other groups of us kids. We weren’t exactly your run-of-the-mill teenagers – we had gifts that few others seemed to have – although there were quite a number of us now. We’d started out on skateboards and BMX bikes and had moved on to motor-cross and the like – but then we’d discovered that we were able to harness the wind – and ride it and then we started doing trick shots and now it’s like a surfing competition only with lightning and wind.

I woke up the next morning to find a cloud crystal on my pillow, I frowned – where on earth had that come from?
Do you like it?
I yelled with fright and about jumped out of my skin again; how the hell was he doing that?
We’re soul mates…
He’d gone again as soon as he arrived. How the hell did he do that?
Easy, I heard his voice again, Once you accept it – you can talk to me any time you like.
My heart was thumping out of my chest. I’d been attracted to Jesse from the first time I’d ever seen him. But we were rivals – Garner and Naveen would never allow me to leave our group and join theirs…
I know that.
Will you stop that!
He chuckled. The sound of his deep voice made the hairs on my arms stand on end. He had such an effect on me, it was scary. So, you do accept me as your soul-mate then?
I don’t know. I admitted. Maybe…
That’s all I needed to hear – now I have hope.

I’m considered lazy by my family – I guess they had a point when I was younger – there were no two ways about it – I hadn’t got any sort of aim in life to better myself – and that was perfectly fine as far as I was concerned. I was happy enough; I had enough money to get through life week by week and I was satisfied with life. You see, as lazy as they’ve always thought I am – I have imagination and drive for things that interest me – and ghosts are one of those interests…
So, yes – I’ve got a job, my own place – two cats for company and I’m perfectly happy. I’m self-employed and doing really well actually but my parents still think I’m a total loser and you know what? I guess that’s their prerogative. I couldn’t care less – the less I have to do with them the better. I don’t want their good opinion – it comes with too many conditions to be believed and the condescension is frankly nauseating. I certainly don’t need it – that’s reserved entirely for Simon – my half brother and business manager extraordinaire… I’m the other brother – the black sheep; the idiot – the ghost-hunter…
